Windows 7 Pre-Release Promotional Pricing

July 6, 2009

In response to Microsoft’s Windows 7 pre-release pricing information on June 25, Onsite Computer Services in New Orleans received lots of email.  Much to Onsite’s delight, retail pricing of Windows 7 is simpler and slightly cheaper than retail pricing of Windows VistaWindows 7 will be available starting on Oct. 22, 2009.

Pre-release promotional pricing of Windows 7 at the Microsoft Store is designed to further save 50%-58% from retail pricing, depending on the version of Windows 7.  Promotional pricing is available on Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional upgrade versions only.  Some important pre-order details to consider BEFORE you participate in the pre-release promotion:

Verify your PC is compatible with Windows 7 via the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Prerelease orders will not be charged until your order is shipped or the product is made available for download.

Microsoft’s promotional pricing is a limited-time offer and is restricted to three (3) copies per edition per customer.

Onsite further advises the Pre-Orders section for additional details.

If you’re presently running Windows Vista you are eligible to purchase Windows 7 Upgrade versions. The migration to Windows 7 from Vista can be either a clean install or an in-place upgrade (Windows 7 installs over Windows Vista).  Windows XP users are also eligible to purchase Windows 7 upgrades; however all XP-to-Windows 7 migrations involve a clean install of Windows 7 (Windows 7 DOES NOT install over Windows XP).

Stay tuned as Onsite Computer Services in New Orleans prepares for the October 22 release of Windows 7.  Onsite welcomes your Windows 7 questions and will attempt to answer all requests for Windows 7 information in this blog.
