Windows 7 – Aero Peek and ALT+TAB Keys

May 14, 2009

At Onsite Computer Services in New Orleans we are enjoying our Microsoft Windows 7 RC box with the improvements Microsoft implemented since the beta release, based upon customer feedback. This post considers one of the changes made by Microsoft’s feature teams – Aero Peek and ALT+TAB keys.

Microsoft received overwhelmingly positive feedback about Aero Peek and how it helps customers switch windows among running programs with increased confidence. Users can still quickly flip between and cycle through running windows using the ALT+TAB keys, but when more window information is needed Aero Peek will appear. Aero Peek is triggered by a time delay as you pause while ALT+TAB keyboarding through running windows.

Aero Peek provides the ability to quickly and easily switch windows and apps through taskbar thumbnail previews. One of the most noticeable changes is that the popular Aero Peek feature will be extended to both the Alt+Tab shortcut and touch screen interfaces.

At Onsite Computer Services in New Orleans, we are excited about Microsoft’s most recent version of Windows 7 – there is ample evidence that Microsoft is listening to user suggestions and making appropriate changes with successive iterations of Windows 7. In our opinion, Windows 7 RC appears as a wonderful Microsoft creation whose time has come.
