Microsoft Clients and the Economic Environment

January 28, 2009

Lately the primary topic of lament among Microsoft business clients of Onsite Computer Services in New Orleans is the worsening global economic recession and the hope that Mr. Obama‘s stimulus plan can reverse the present economic decay. All of Onsite’s clients are experiencing greatly reduced revenue and they are cutting expenses and employees in anticipation of a worsening economy.

The Austrian economists among our clients contend the best cure for our economic ills is free-market capitalism. Austrian economists believe government intervention will prolong this economic contraction – the greater the amount of government intervention, the longer the amount of time for economic recovery.

It will be interesting to note what effect Mr. Obama’s stimulus plan will induce. Some contend the rescue package will simply create untold government debt at the expense of generations of taxpayers. Consider TARP and the success of Mr. Paulson and the US Treasury. The original purpose of TARP was the TRANSPARENT rescue of toxic assets from US financial institutions considered ‘too big to fail.’  Thus far, however, many contend TARP is anything BUT transparent and it is creating firms that are ‘too big to succeed.’

Most everyone HOPES Mr. Obama’s stimulus can reverse present economic trends; however some believe the economic problems we face are global in nature and one man will have little effect. What do you think?
