‘I’m a PC’ – Microsoft’s Interesting Marketing Campaign

September 26, 2008

Onsite Computer Services in New Orleans specializes in the design, customization, and implementation of Microsoft enterprise and desktop products for businesses in the New Orleans metro area.  We eat, sleep, work, and play Microsoft – make no mistake about our area of expertise.  The ‘I’m a PC’ marketing effort inspires all sorts of parody and laughter, especially since Microsoft is apparently utilizing viral marketing techniques to help spread their message.  Microsoft is encouraging people to upload ‘I’m a PC’ videos to a Windows web site, while ‘I’m a PC’ is no stranger to YouTube.

E-Week’s Joe Wilcox posted a collection of ‘I’m a PC’ quips that poke fun at Microsoft on September 24, 2008 at 1:32 PM.  A couple of my favorites:

“I’m a PC and I am the blue screen of death.”

“So if there are no Walls, what is holding up the Windows?”

“I’m a PC and I came with six stickers and 32 trial software programs.”

“I’m a PC … I’m even a child of DOS.”

“I’m a PC, but I still wish I was a mac.”

“I’m a PC and I’m selfish ;)”

Some may find the above inspire a chuckle or two.  We’re simply poking fun at a unique marketing strategy consisting of lots of tongue-in-cheek humor.
