New Orleans Computer Service and Dell Warranty Issues

May 29, 2008

For the past few years, Onsite Computer and incurred an increasing amount of clients experiencing problems with the repair service and warranties of Dell computer products.  On Tuesday the Attorney General of New York won a major suit against Dell.  The court ruled that Dell engaged in fraud, false advertising, and deceptive business practices.  The court ordered Dell to pay restitution and forfeit unlawfully earned profits.

Tuesdays court action is not the first class action suit brought against Dell in the past five years.  Some may say Dell in not the giant computer dealer of the past as an endless amount of complaints by disgruntled customers has had an effect on sales.  It will be interesting to see how Michael Dell handles the business damage of the most recent legal action against Dell.

Clients regularly ask for recommendations as to what kind of PC to purchase.  In light of Dell’s performance during the past few years, many on-line sources contend HP is the leader in PC sales and service.  Onsite generally advises clients to research the on-line complaints of HP and Dell, and purchase the system of their choice.
