Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 and Onsite Computer New Orleans

May 21, 2008

When Microsoft released Service Pack 1 for Vista, Onsite Computer informed our New Orleans technology clients of the highly anticipated release from Microsoft.  We scheduled installation times and began the installation process.  Much to the chagrin of everyone – Microsoft, Vista Users, and Onsite Computer, SP1 solved some problems with Vista; however SP1 also created some problems with Vista.

For those considering the install of SP1 for Vista, Onsite Computer recommends a few procedures.  Google ‘Vista SP1 Problems’ and read of the successes and failures.  Backup your important data, including documents, pictures, music, and anything you must replace in case of an installation failure.  Microsoft provides support for failed SP1 installations but their wonderful staff has encountered its share of unsolvable issues.

In response to reports of Vista SP1 failures, Onsite Computer is very cautious in its recommendation of SP1 at this time.  A thorough review of the client’s hardware, driver requirements, and third-party applications is required before Onsite Computer will recommend the service pack installation.
