However there are other happenings that may interest business computer users. Microsoft just unveiled its Vista Service Pack 1 for users of the newest desktop operating system offering. For the neophyte, a service pack is simply an update in the normal software lifecycle. While the present business software of choice is Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), the Vista aficionado can download and install Service Pack 1 (SP1) while pondering the NBA playoffs.

According to Microsoft Technet, “Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is an update to Windows Vista, that addresses feedback from our customers. in addition to previously relaesed updates, SP1 contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards.” More information is available in the Microsoft white paper.
